Reforming Education

through parent and community involvement: 

 A three-way partnership


Organizing Parents

  • PURPOSE: to help parents be involved in their children’s education, classroom, local school decision making and district priorities.
  • PROGRAM: Parent Organizing Project, consisting of workshops, volunteer and leadership activities, and self-empowerment and political education


Organizing Schools

  • PURPOSE: to help schools partner with parents and community, and embrace a strong vision for eliminating the achievement gap by putting students first in funding and programming priorities.
  • PROGRAM: POP Training of Trainers and curriculum development, consisting of workshops for teachers and staff to learn how to implement a strong parent involvement program in their schools and districts.

Organizing Communities

  • PURPOSE: to help all sectors of the community engage in the common cause of eliminating the achievement gap and preparing all students for success.
  • PROGRAM: MACSS consists of a local model for a community wide coalition partnership in a low-income and low-achieving high school and all its feeder schools.
