The Board of Directors at Salem Keizer Coalition for Equality (SKCE or the Coalition) is pleased to announce that Dunetchka Otero-Serrano has accepted the position of Executive Director. Please see the letter below to hear more from SKCE’s Board Chair, Jonathan Castro Monroy.
Dunetchka’s career in nonprofit management spans 20 years, which includes significant experience in creating programs that serve Latino/a/x families, fundraising with a passion for service, and leading with compelling communication.
Prior to joining the Coalition’s mission, Dunetchka worked as the Executive Director at YWCA Clark County and Community Warehouse. Her work at both organizations ensured continuity of service despite challenges posed by the pandemic. While working as Executive Director at Community Warehouse, she executed and finalized a five-year strategic plan focused on empathy and social justice at the forefront.
For the past six months, Dunetchka served the Coalition as the Interim Director. She found strength in how the community works together to advocate for Spanish-speaking students and parents.
“In only a few short weeks, I witnessed the tangible impact that SKCE has within the community,” says Dunetchka. “Every day, I have cherished how capable, kind, and sophisticated our staff are. That is how I knew I wanted to be a part of this work and a part of this team.“
The Coalition's Response
In this new year, Dunetchka is centering three top priorities to capture success for the Coalition.
“I look forward to activating the Coalition’s Strategic Plan by crafting measurable outcomes in collaboration with the staff and board. This work will include building a relationship with the new superintendent of Salem-Keizer Public Schools and increasing our financial health through individual donor stewardship,” says Dunetchka.
A Message from The Board of Directors
Nueva etapa para la Coalición (New stage for the Coalition)
Hi SKCE community,
We appreciate your commitment to our organization over the past months as we worked toward identifying an Executive Director (ED). Finding an ED that could build on the foundation of Annalivia and Eduardo was not easy, but with the help of Jan, Agnes, Chris, Carol, and the rest of the board, we successfully vetted the right candidate.
We are excited to have Dunetchka Otero-Serrano as our new Executive Director. We believe her lived experiences and values are in alignment with our organization. Her past professional experiences also make her the ideal candidate for our organization. I think the best is yet to come for our organization.
