Collective Power
Through Collaboration
When the legislature, school board, or commission passes or adopts a bill, who writes the rules? Every bill passed at the legislature goes into committee for Rules writing. It is one of the many places where diverse voices are needed. We contribute to these committees at the state level and work with other organizations invested in education excellence whose priority is education equity. SKCE is a member of:
- Oregon Partners for Education Justice is a statewide network of community-based organizations and education advocates who are championing a racially just public education system. Members include APANO, Stand for Children, Latino Network, Coalition for Communities of Color, Adelante Mujeres, Children’s Institute, REAP, NAYA, Foundations for a Better Oregon, and many more.
- Alianza Poder, an alliance of Latino/a/x led organizations in the Willamette Valley that includes Mano a Mano Family Center, Radio Poder, Latinos Unidos Siempre (LUS), Capaces Leadership Institute, PCUN, Mujeres Luchadores Progresistas, Evolve workforce and Farmworkers Housing Development Corporation (FHDC).
